{"id":3483,"date":"2015-03-14T15:49:48","date_gmt":"2015-03-14T15:49:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.alchealth.com\/news\/?p=3483"},"modified":"2015-09-14T15:03:43","modified_gmt":"2015-09-14T14:03:43","slug":"daily-consumption-of-fizzy-drinks-could-raise-risk-of-cancer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.alchealth.com\/news\/daily-consumption-of-fizzy-drinks-could-raise-risk-of-cancer\/","title":{"rendered":"Daily consumption of fizzy drinks could raise risk of cancer"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">According to a <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.consumerreports.org\/cro\/news\/2014\/01\/caramel-color-the-health-risk-that-may-be-in-your-soda\/\" target=\"_blank\">study<\/a> conducted by the Consumer Reports on the effect of caramel colouring used in soft drinks, the daily consumption of fizzy drinks is more dangerous than we thought.<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The chemical process that takes place with the manufacturing of caramel colouring produces a\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Carcinogen\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">carcinogen<\/span><\/a><\/strong>\u00a0that could be\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.medicalnewstoday.com\/articles\/289687.php\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">raising the risk of cancer<\/span><\/a><\/strong>, suggests an analyst.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The laboratory tests on 11 different soft drinks revealed that one can a day could be enough to expose a consumer to potentially cancer-causing levels of the chemical\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/4-Methylimidazole\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">4-MeI<\/span><\/a><\/strong>, which is short for 4-methylimidazole. Surprisingly however, the levels of 4-MeI varied in samples of the same type of fizzy drinks.
