How premiums are calculated

Everyone is different

Whether you are looking for just the essentials or perhaps a more comprehensive range of benefits, our flexible range of medical insurance solutions have been designed to help you to create the cover that you need and where you pay only for the cover that you need.

Once you have decided upon the plan best suited to your needs, finding out what your cover will cost is as easy as 1 - 2 - 3. Just click here to use our fast quote service and within a matter of moments we’ll show you what options are available, how much it will cost and even guide you through the process of buying your cover on-line.

What we need to know about you to provide you with a quotation

We base your premiums on a few very simple questions. Using our fast quote on-line service, we will ask you where you are living and your nationality, your age, gender and date of birth, choice of plan cover and any excess requirements. That’s it. And at this stage, we won’t even ask you any questions about your health.

Pre-existing conditions

Insurance is all about protecting yourself against the unexpected and we want to ensure that you have the most comprehensive cover possible. Our range of options allow you to create the cover that best suits your needs at the best possible price, but in order to do this we may need to exclude any medical condition or related condition for which you have received medical treatment, had symptoms (whether investigated or not) or sought advice prior to your date of entry (pre-existing medical condition).

However, after a continuous period of 2 years as an insured person with aLC health, all pre-existing conditions will become eligible for benefit provided you have not:

a. consulted a medical practitioner or specialist for medical treatment or advice; or
b. suffered symptoms; or
c. taken medication (including drugs, medicines, special diets or injections) for that condition for a continuous period of two years after the date of entry.

What’s not covered

There are naturally a few things that your policy with aLC health will not cover in common with all international medical insurance programmes, so it is important that you read the list of general exclusions (please click here to see a copy of our list of exclusions) that apply to your chosen plan before you make any final decision about buying your cover.
